Demi Lovato performing at We Day Toronto

We Day is an educational event and the movement of our time—a movement of young people leading local and global change. We Day is tied to the yearlong We Act program, which offers curricular resources, campaigns and materials to help turn the day’s inspiration into sustained activation.

Demi Lovato, the award-winning singer-songwriter and Free The Children ambassador performed two songs on the We Day Toronto stage; Skyscraper (with special guest Darren Criss) and Neon Lights. In the past Demi Lovato’s participated at We Day Vancouver and We Day Seattle. She’s also donated over $10,000 from selling her old clothing on Ebay, raised money on the Price Is Right, and just recently got back from a volunteer trip to Kenya.

We Day

Every year Free the Children has an event known as We Day across Canada (Toronto, Vancouver, Alberta, Manitoba, Waterloo, Montreal, Halifax, Saskatchewan and Ottawa). I fortunately for the third year in a row got to attend the one in Toronto. The first year I attended with my high school, last year I volunteered as a member on the Booths Team and this year I volunteered with Me to We Style.

We Day is a day to celebrate all of last years initiatives and is the kickoff to the start of another year. If you ever have the chance to attend DO IT. It will be the most inspirational day of your life and if it’s too late for you to attend why not volunteer? Either way it’s a fun-filled day with people just like you who want to make a difference.

You can check out my We Day encounter with Joe Jonas from last year here.

We Day

“At We Day, youth from across North America join together to celebrate the positive actions they are taking and to build the momentum of the movement of young people making a difference in their communities and around the world. Through We Day, youth learn that it is cool to care.”

I’ve now attended We Day twice. Once with my school and this time as a volunteer on the Booth’s Team. I worked at the merchandise table all day long and unfortunately didn’t get to observe the show. When it finished I went looking for my friend Sarah because she had my sweater and Nina Dobrev walked right by me into a car. I called her name and she waved but her publicist claimed she didn’t have time to take pictures. My friends and I kept moving until I realized that the other stars would be leaving from the same exit if they haven’t already and just then Joe Jonas walked outside. I sprinted to the other side of the car and asked him for a picture. His body guard said no giving the same excuse as Nina’s publicist but Joe took my camera and said that he had enough time to take a picture. Don’t mind his face, he just learned that i’m a Demi Lovato fan. Just kidding!
