Demi Lovato’s Neon Lights tour ft. Fifth Harmony & Cher Lloyd

I apologize for the delay. This has been sitting in my drafts for a while…

On March 26, 2014 I had the opportunity to be a photographer at Demi Lovato’s concert at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Besides being an artist whose music I love, this was an incredible experience for me as a photographer. I’ve taken a cheap point-and-shoot camera to shows before where afterwards the low quality of the photos brings me to tears. The week earlier when I was in Columbus, Ohio for the same show I snuck in my Canon EOS 60D but was terrified of getting caught. For the first time I didn’t need to sneak in a camera and I left with beautiful pictures that I can be proud of. For the two openers, Fifth Harmony and Cher Lloyd I was able to shoot in the pit where the lighting is beyond gorgeous. When it came to Demi Lovato we were only allowed to shoot from the sound stage which was a little disappointing but thanks to the 80-400mm lens I had on me I really have no complaints. I am so thankful to Demi’s management for making this possible.

Photographs can be seen on in the “Celebrity” section under 2014.

Demi Lovato performing at We Day Toronto

We Day is an educational event and the movement of our time—a movement of young people leading local and global change. We Day is tied to the yearlong We Act program, which offers curricular resources, campaigns and materials to help turn the day’s inspiration into sustained activation.

Demi Lovato, the award-winning singer-songwriter and Free The Children ambassador performed two songs on the We Day Toronto stage; Skyscraper (with special guest Darren Criss) and Neon Lights. In the past Demi Lovato’s participated at We Day Vancouver and We Day Seattle. She’s also donated over $10,000 from selling her old clothing on Ebay, raised money on the Price Is Right, and just recently got back from a volunteer trip to Kenya.

White Collar: My Newest Obsession

I’ve become quite fond of a fair amount of shows over the years; Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, Friends. And now you can add White Collar to that list. Unlike others I learned of the show because of a favourite actress of mine. Hilarie Burton, who’s known for her role as Peyton Sawyer in One Tree Hill. She then left Wilmington to join the cast of White Collar in their second season playing the role of Sara Ellis, an insurance investigator. But before I confuse you all by talking about her it’s probably better that you know what the show’s about.

Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) a white collar criminal makes a deal with the FBI and more specifically the man who caught him Agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) to help catch other criminals using his expertise as an art and securities thief, counterfeiter and racketeer. Intriguing? I think so!

Let me start by saying that Matt Bomer’s character needs to be topless more because he’s gorgeous. Matt’s like Neil Patrick Harris but sexier (he pulls off the suits better then Barney Stinson too). And I wish he weren’t gay so that we could end up together. Okay fine, it wouldn’t happen even if he was straight but a girl can dream. Now Neal Caffrey is not only incredibly handsome and well dressed wearing suits with ties and fedoras in every episode but he’s also charming with an infectious grin.

White Collar has the ability to be serious, suspenseful, gut-wrenching, funny and even touching (you’ll probably only end up watching it to stare at Matt Bomer for 42 minutes every week). I’m going to take a minute to post a few favourite quotes of mine from the show. The comedic ones may not seem as so on paper but when you’re watching it, you’ll be fighting to not let that laugh out.

Neal Caffrey: “You know, the nice thing about fireworks, there’s usually a second show.”

Neal Caffrey: If you want a happy ending, it depends on where you stop the story.

Mozzie: You know the worst thing about art forgery? You can’t take credit for your work.

Neal Caffrey: “My favorite protection is avoiding situations where people might shoot me.”

Neal Caffrey: “No more relationship advice from this side of the car. Call doctor Phil.”

Peter Burke: You are way out of your league.
Neal Caffrey: Ah, harmless flirting. It’s like a dance.
Peter Burke: Naa, there is no dance. You’re not even on her dance card. No dancing for you.
Neal Caffrey: Umm, she digs the hat.
Peter Burke: Mmm, she’d rather be wearing the hat.

There’s a lot more I want to say but can’t. I don’t want to ruin anything for those who haven’t even seen episode one yet but want to. Maybe i’ll do a spoiler-like post about this show after but for the time being this will have to do. I have a favourite couple that I would love to never shut up about (as usual). I do think that Peter Burke ships them even more then I do. There’s always that one character in a show that ships the people you want to end up together, always.

I’m just going to finish this up by saying that I really do love this show. It’s not one of those overly dramatic teen dramas like Gossip Girl or 90210. It doesn’t even have any of those fictional vampires in it like True Blood. But I can tell you that it’s entertaining to watch from minute one. You’ll fall in love with different characters, you’ll fall in love with different ships (maybe find a new top on the way), and you’ll fall in with some of the stories and you’ll fall in love with the show. What’s the harm in trying to watch it?

The show is well into their fourth season, with 6 episodes remaining in the season. If you want to start watching you have about two weeks to catch up since they’re currently on their mid-season break. It won’t take you too long. Enjoy!

White Collar returns Tuesday, January 22 at 10/9c.
